Pones Inc., A Second Sunday on Main Highlight

This Sunday, September 9, Second Sunday on Main will be taking place between noon and 5 p.m. between 13th Street and Liberty in Over the Rhine. Second Sunday includes an outdoor market and a different theme every month. Activities will include a celebrity chef demo and the Hudepohl Bier Laufen, a “battle of the bars” that features ten Cincinnati bars racing against each other in make-shift racing carts. This Sunday is also a celebration of dance. Here’s a schedule of the performances:

Orchard Street performance area:

Noon – Doxologies Dance & Theatre Company
1pm – Pones Inc.
3pm – My Nose Turns Red Youth Circus
4pm – KRE8V – Elementz

14th Street performance area:

Noon – Cincinnati Contra Dancers
1:30 – Rhythm & Motion – Cincinnati Ballet
2pm – Troupe Shuruq / Bauhdi Movement Theatre Collective
3pm – Dances for Main Street, with choreography by Diane Germain, Demetrius Klein, Ian Timothy Forsgren
4pm – Keshvar Project

as well as Hoopinatti, the hula hoop squad, at 4pm (interactive and not at either of the performance areas)

Since its founding in 2008, Pones Inc. has performed in over 30 Greater Cincinnati locations, and one of their favorite spots has been Over the Rhine. This Sunday’s 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. event will continue their tradition of dance that involves (in their words) “participatory performance with a focus on creating community.” The line between performer and audience will be blurred as the crowd on hand for Second Sunday on Main will have a chance to move and dance to music provided by local bands and DJs.

In the spirit of participatory performance, Pones Inc. has, via their Facebook page, sent this message out to the community:

CALLING ALL MUSICIANS and DJS!
Wanna play with Pones Inc. at Second Sunday on Main from 1-3:00 on Orchard in OTR?

We will be dancing on a car … probably just like this 😉
LET US KNOW! (We also will have recorded instructions on the headphones for how participants of Pones In Public could interact and ‘dance’ with the car as well!)
